  • Lesley-Ann McGregor - It’s always difficult to sum up a person and their life in a few words. This is especially the case for Daniel.
I have known Daniel since school. It was evident from these early days that he was a charmer, as well as someone who was up for a good laugh. He certainly had a way to make light of any situation, with a joke always to hand. This endearing part of his character in any case made you feel instantly at ease.

  • Following school our friendship grew further and I was fortunate to get to know him more spending a number of years as good friends. When reflecting on our many times together, I can honestly say I do not hold a bad memory.

This was reflective of his personality. A kind, caring, thoughtful and generous person. Someone who you knew was right at the end of the phone if you ever needed anything or just someone who could make your darkest day seem that little bit brighter. That was Daniel.

For Alison and Steve, I hope that the messages you have received as well as any messages of condolence provide you with some comfort and demonstrate the love felt for your son. He was one of a kind. We are all more fortunate for having had him in our lives.

For Daniel, the words of our song Stargirl, which you sang beautifully for me every Friday morning, resonates so much more today.

“I’m looking up for my star guy
I guess I’m stuck in this mad world
The things that I wanna say
But you’re a million miles away”

All I can say is that your friends will all miss you incredibly. Thank you for being a part of our lives, for the many years of laughter and for the love you gave us.

Keep your head up pal. Love you x
